Best Practices Manual

In an effort to share with the industry programs and promotions that increase trial, retention and conversion of skiers and snowboarders and in conjunction with the objectives and recommendations of the "Canadian Model for Growth", The Canadian Ski Council (CSC), with the support of the Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance and the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors, compiles a manual of "Best Practices" that ski areas, ski/snowboard schools, etc. has had success with. Cost: No charge

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 2004-2005:

The tenth annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 2004-2005 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This is the most extensive regional and national report of demographics, proficiency and consumer patterns in Canadian history. 
Cost: $250.00 for general public and $125.00 for non-participating ski areas (plus applicable taxes and shipping/handling).

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 2003-2004:

The nineth annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 2003-2004 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This is the most extensive regional and national report of demographics, proficiency and consumer patterns in Canadian history. 
Cost: $250.00 for general public and $125.00 for non-participating ski areas (plus applicable taxes and shipping/handling).

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 2002-2003:

The eighth annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 2002-2003 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This is the most extensive regional and national report of demographics, proficiency and consumer patterns in Canadian history.

The seventh annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 2001-2002 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This is the most extensive regional and national report of demographics, proficiency and consumer patterns in Canadian history.

The sixth annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 2000-2001 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This is the most extensive regional and national report of demographics, proficiency and consumer patterns in Canadian history.

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 1999 - 2000:

The fifth annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 1999-2000 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This is the most extensive regional and national report of demographics, proficiency and consumer patterns in Canadian history. Regional reports are also available.

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Market Segmentation Research Report:

A look into the motivation and attitudes of skiers and snowboarders to identify key groups, based on what motivates them to ski/snowboard. By understanding why people ski/snowboard and knowing what they expect out of the experience, you will be better able to market to a given group. The report compiles data from 1,154 completed questionnaires collected at eight ski areas in Canada.

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 1998 - 1999:

The fourth annual national survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 1998-1999 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This report provides an overview of skier and snowboarder data emanating from this nation-wide survey.

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 1997 - 1998:

The third annual nation-wide survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 1997-1998 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This report provides results on skier/snowboarder activity, demographics, ski ability, overnight skiers and trend analysis of the previous year's surveys. Highlighted findings offer insights into related businesses to help make decisions about future product development and marketing programs. This report is a joint initiative of the Canadian Ski Council, the Canadian Tourism Commission, the National Snow Industries Association and participating Canadian ski area operators.

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 1996 - 1997:

The second annual nation-wide survey of skiers and snowboarders at Canadian ski resorts was conducted and completed during the 1996-1997 skiing and snowboarding season by the Canadian Ski Council. This report provides an overview of the skier and snowboarder data emanating from this nation-wide survey. Highlighted findings offer insights into existing skier and rider markets at regional and national levels. It can be used by ski industry managers and related businesses to help make decisions about future product development and marketing programs. This report is a joint initiative of the Canadian Ski Council, the National Snow Industries Association and the Canadian Ski Area Operators Association.

Canadian Skier-Snowboarder Survey 1995 - 1996:

The first nation-wide survey of skiers and snowboarders. This research study was the basis for the 1995-96 research, both obtaining a sample of approximately 12,000 skiers/snowboarders from more than 30 ski resorts across Canada.

Where Do The Trails Lead? 1994:

A comprehensive report on the Canadian ski industry with up-to-date perspectives of the industry, from general market trends to specific alpine skiing, nordic skiing, snowboarding, ski retail and international ski market trends. A complete analysis of the Canadian Ski Industry structure and performance (including a resource list). Co-published by the Canadian Ski Council, Simon Fraser University and Tourism Canada.

Canadian Skier - Snowboarder Survey 1994-1995:

The first Canadian Snowboard survey was conducted and completed in 1994 by the Canadian Ski Council. The results present a Canada-wide profile of snowboarders: the demographics; purchase patterns; activities; preferences and ski resort-related opinions.
