Kudos this week to BC’s Sun Peaks Resort, which ranked No.2 in Canada’s Best Overall Resort category in SBC’s 2014 Resort Guide. Sun Peaks, located near Kamloops in BC’s Okanagan, was ranked second only to Whistler.

The rankings were released in timing with last week’s Toronto Snow Show and published in the Editor’s Choice Awards in the new SBC Resort Guide Magazine. This announcement joins recent top accolades for Sun Peaks from Canadian Living Magazine, Ski Canada Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller, and other respected travel and snow publications.

“Sun Peaks serves up what’s promised and more,” says Jesse Fox, SBC’s managing editor. “Where else can you stack legit slackcountry, proper tree runs, buttery groomers and top-to-bottom park laps? Mix in the deep snowfalls, non-existent lift lines, and ride-in/ride-out dining and lodging options…”

Canadian resorts are ranked based on a survey of SBC magazine editors. Each editor awards each resort points in different categories, which are then tallied to produce the standings.

“To be recognized by a group of people so involved and knowledgeable in Canada’s ski and snowboard industry speaks volumes about the amenities, terrain and overall experience offered at Sun Peaks,” says Christopher Nicolson, president of Tourism Sun Peaks. “This winter more terrain will open, there are more flights to get here thanks to WestJet, and we have more camps and events throughout the winter. Each is a commitment to our guests as we strive to provide the finest resort experience in Canada.”
