Classic Acts Appear at Sun Peaks’ Summer Concert Series

Headliners announced for Sun Peaks’ major July and August concerts

July 4 – Lou Gramm: The Voice of Foreigner
August 29 – Colin James

Sun Peaks, BC (April 23, 2015) – Two out of four major Sun Peaks’ free outdoor Summer Concert Series headliners were announced today. On Saturday, July 4, Lou Gramm: The Voice of Foreigner will bring almost 30 years of hit rock and roll to Canada’s Alpine Village, following a Friday early evening concert whose performer will be announced in the coming weeks. On Saturday, August 29, Canadian rock and blues legend Colin James will return for his second appearance in the Sun Peaks Summer Concert Series, having performed to a lively audience in 2013. The weekend will also feature a Friday night performer. The two concert weekends bookend a full summer events line-up featuring races, festivals, musical performances, and more.

Lou Gramm – the lead vocalist and co-writer of the multi-platinum band Foreigner, as well as a successful solo artist in his own right – remains one of the most recognizable performers in music today. His dynamic, 90-minute live show features his unique brand of rock’ n ’roll and includes chart topping hits like “Hot Blooded”, “Juke Box Hero”, “Double Vision”, “Head Games”, and “I Want to Know What Love Is” among others.

“I was the lead vocalist for Foreigner for 26 years,” says Gramm. ”I am enormously proud of this and the music I have made with Foreigner is still a big part of my solo shows. However, with this line-up I can also perform my own music and the hit records I have had as a solo artist. I even throw a few curve balls, such as my take on a Beatles classic like ‘You Can’t Do That.’ In the end, I believe the fans are getting a better show.”

Colin James, six time Juno Award winner and inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, is hot off the release of his new album Hearts on Fire and is looking forward to rocking Sun Peaks’ unique outdoor venue once again. Guests may remember James descending into the crowd for a guitar solo mid-set in 2013.

“I was so glad to be asked back to Sun Peaks this year,” says James. “Everyone had such a blast when we played back in 2013 and it is a great setting for a summer show.”

Known for his talents in a variety of genres ranging from rock to pop and blues to gospel, James is the ideal performer to deliver an exciting show. He has performed with the likes of Queen, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, and others, has sold multi-platinum many times over, and continues to sell out shows coast to coast.

Accommodation packages for both concert weekends are available through Sun Peaks Central Reservations and offer the option of Front Stage Access or free general access. Go to www.SunPeaksResort.com/Concerts.

Concert goers are reminded to bring blankets or lawn chairs, sunscreen and light layers as the alpine venue tends to cool in the evenings. Also, the concert venue takes place on a grassy slope so sturdy footwear is recommended.

Due to the new Mountain Cross Cart (MCC) Course the concert has moved slightly west to the bottom of 5 Mile ski run.
