Ontario’s Horseshoe Resort has announced the launch of Horseshoe MultiSport Academy, a one-of-a kind program designed to engage families in lifelong activity and sport development.

The Horseshoe MultiSport Academy (HMA) is led by Bill Trayling, a former member of the National Kayak Team through two Olympic Games and seven World Championships, lauded championship canoe coach, educator and multisport athlete himself.

“Horseshoe is extremely fortunate to have Bill Trayling leading the way with our new MultiSport Academy,” says general manager Sean Billing. “Bill’s wealth of knowledge and passion for training combined with Horseshoe’s lush landscape creates the perfect place to start your family fitness journey.”

Ultimately, HMA aims to arm every participant and athlete with the skills and training necessary to pursue their path in the discipline of their choice.

To help athletes along their path, HMA has put together a team of acclaimed coaches including new Head Alpine Coach; Nigel Cooper who has more than 20 years’ experience in performance based athlete development at Whistler Mountain Ski Club, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, BC Alpine Ski Association and Alpine Canada. The resort is also welcoming back several seasoned coaches including Head Nordic Coach, Andrew Doble and Snow School Director, Brooke Lidstone.

“We have some of the best coaches in the industry working with us,” said Bill Trayling. “I’m proud to be working with a team dedicated to promoting and supporting a healthy active lifestyle.”

Under Bill’s direction, the MultiSport Academy is working with partners, head coaches and mentors that not only further the physical and educational development of participants and guests, but provide support on social and emotional levels to truly develop a well-rounded athlete. Through the MultiSport Academy, Horseshoe Resort hopes to inspire guests and athletes both young and old to engage in year-round physical activity and have fun while they’re doing it.
