Grandview Elementary School in Vancouver is this year’s recipient of the Mt Seymour School Scholarship.

The vision behind the scholarship program is to provide an experience to children who may have very few chances to visit places and experience activities beyond their own neighborhood.

Grandview is classified as an inner city school, which ’emphasizes an Earth School concept through the promoting experiential education that connects students to the world through experiences in nature.’

On Tuesday March 4, 2014, all grade 5 and 6 students at Grandview will be welcomed to Mt Seymour for a day of ski and snowboard lessons. The ski area will transport the students from school, bring them to Mt Seymour for a full day of lessons, and provide lunch.

“Mt Seymour would like every young person in the Lower Mainland to have the opportunity to experience skiing or snowboarding,” a press release says. “Classes can be nominated for a complimentary day of skiing or snowboarding at Mt Seymour, including a full day lesson program with four hours of ski/snowboard lessons, including lift and rentals, transport to and from Mt Seymour with lunch provided.”

This is the second year Mt Seymour has had a scholarship program. To nominate a school next year, please contact schools@mountseymour.com.
