Peak Chair On Whistler Mountain To Open November 27

WHISTLER, BC  – Whistler Blackcomb will complete the kick off to its 50th anniversary season when Blackcomb Mountain opens for skiing and snowboarding on Thursday, November 26.

In addition to the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, six chairs will be running on Blackcomb Mountain, providing access to 731 metres or 2,400 vertical feet of terrain. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to upload from the valley from 8:30am until 2:00pm via the Excalibur Gondola or Wizard Express Chair.

Skiable terrain on Blackcomb Mountain will be accessible via Excelerator Express Chair, Solar Coaster Chair, Jersey Cream Express Chair and Catskinner Chair. Eleven runs will be open including Green Line, Upper and Lower Zig Zag, Wishbone, Upper and Lower Springboard, Ross’ Gold, Easy Out, Cougar Milk, Honeycomb and Upper Buzz Cut, as well as Jersey Cream Bowl. The Nintendo Choker Terrain Park will also be open offering nineteen features in total including fifteen jibs, three jumps and one hip.

The newly renovated Rendezvous Lodge will open its doors to the public for the first time on Thursday, offering more seating for guests and delicious new menu options in the food court, including Japanese ramen bowls, a Thai-inspired wok station, and an authentic Mexican taqueria. The Glacier Creek Lodge will also be open, as well as the Wizard Grill and Merlin’s Bar and Grill at the base of Blackcomb. The Glacier Creek Lodge will be open on weekends only until December 12 and then will remain open daily for the remainder of the season.

First upload via the Whistler Village Gondola, Creekside Gondola, Excalibur Gondola and the Wizard Express Chair will be at 8:30am with the last ride up from the valley at 2:00pm. A mandatory download is in effect from the top of the Wizard Express and Excalibur Gondola on Blackcomb Mountain and from the Whistler Village Gondola and Creekside Gondola on Whistler Mountain. Sightseers can access the mountain and the PEAK 2 PEAK via the Whistler Village Gondola.

On Friday, November 27 the Peak Chair on Whistler Mountain will be running, making 1,182 metres or 3,800 feet of vertical terrain available to skiers and snowboarders. The Peak Chair provides access to high alpine terrain with runs such as Burnt Stew and The Saddle.

Guests are reminded early season conditions still apply, especially off piste. It is important to obey mountain signage, ski and ride on open runs only and stay within the operational area marked by “Temporary Boundary” signage.

Canadian, Washington State and Oregon State residents can take advantage of early bird EDGE Card pricing, which has been extended until November 30 and allows guests to ski/ride from $70 (CDN) a day.
